English Attack! is the world’s first 100% entertainment-focused online resource for helping people around the world improve their English language skills. It was created by media and entertainment experts who now work in English Language Teaching and see huge potential in a totally different approach to learning through online entertainment platforms.

English Attack’s unique method achieves three key pedagogical outcomes:

1. Strong Learner Motivation

English Attack! generates strong learner motivation through current, authentic content (clips from movies, hit TV series, music videos); visual mini-dictionaries on a wide range of subjects; a videogame-like reward ecosystem, and membership of a worldwide social network of learners of English. Fresh, topical content is added to the site daily.

2. Retention Of Learning Items

The site enables learners to move the lexical items seen in the learning units from short-term into long-term memory - the only way to truly retain them - thanks to a range of addictive Learning Games that provide repeated exposure to (and use of) the new vocabulary. Learners practice with games that are generated dynamically each time a new content unit is played.

3. Frequent Input, and Learner Autonomy

English Attack! exercises are short-format (1-3-minute videos, visual dictionaries with no more than 20 lexical items, fast-paced games and thus a typical learning unit can be completed in 10 minutes. The brevity of the learning sessions and the attractiveness of the content result in most of our learners using the site every day. This allows us to achieve one of the key requirements for effective language learning: frequency of input.

The English Attack! Teachers and Schools Platform

English Attack's Teachers and Schools platform extends English Attack’s unique pedagogical approach to teachers, schools, universities and organization training staff wishing to add a new, innovative dimension to their English-teaching programs.

The English Attack Teachers and Schools Platform has been designed for two main types of English-language teaching professional.

Organizations such as schools, universities, language institutes or companies can opt for the PRO Multi-User license, which covers both teachers and learners and allows the organization total control over the number of licenses activated at any given time. It also provides organization branding on the English Attack! website for uses affiliated with the organization.

Individual teachers, tutors or trainers requiring their learners to pay for their own subscription, on the other hand, can opt for the Independent Teacher license. This license enables learners invited by the Independent Teacher, via a special invitation code, to obtain a 25% educational discount on Booster Pass site subscription.

Beyond providing full access to all English Attack! premium content (Video Boosters Photo Vocabs, and Learning Games), both licenses allow teachers to enroll learners in an unlimited number of online classes; select and assign content units from the entire English Attack content unit catalogue for specific classes or across all classes; monitor whether each learner has completed the assigned units (and the score obtained); monitor the learner’s other activity on the English Attack! website (non-assigned units completed ; the posting of comments and other social networking activity; badges and overall points levels achieved); and create online discussion threads across which class members can discuss the assignment or content units, or ask the teacher questions in connection with these.

Learners benefiting from access to the Platform, either via a PRO Multi-User license or affiliation with an Independent Teacher license, can access their assigned classes and assignments via a “MySchool” tab on the site’s main navigation bar. In addition to the class assignment and teacher-class communication functionality, learners with access to the Platform will also be able to play a range of Practice Games based on the assigned content directly from the Assignment interface.
